About Latisse® Eyelash Serum

The lashes displayed are unretouched, without mascara. If you stop using LATISSE^®, your eyelashes are expected to return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months. Results may vary from eye to eye. There may be differences in eyelash length, thickness, fullness, pigmentation (darkness), number of eyelash hairs or the direction of eyelashes. If you experience any of these variations in your lashes, they will usually go away once you stop using LATISSE^®.

Great eyelashes don’t just happen overnight. That’s why it’s important to note that LATISSE^® solution works gradually and remarkably — with full results at week 16. Once you begin, you must continue applying the topical solution each night and follow the directions for best results. If you stop using LATISSE^® at any time, your eyelashes will return to their previous appearance over several weeks to months.

Set Your Sights on Growth

As the treatment progresses, you’ll first begin to see changes in length. Then, gradually, you’ll notice more thickness and darkness in your lashes. If you’re satisfied with your results by week 8, don’t stop there. Stick with the treatment. After week 16, you’ll see the full effect of LATISSE^® solution — and so will others. After that, you can talk to your Berman Skin Institute provider about ongoing use.

Results were proven in a clinical study.

The LATISSE® clinical study was conducted at 16 sites across the country and included 278 participants of varying ages (22 to 78). The study tested LATISSE® solution and a vehicle (or placebo), which was LATISEE® without its active ingredient. Neither patients nor Clinical Investigators knew which group received what treatment. By week 16, the results showed that 78% (107/137) of participants experienced a significant increase in overall eyelash prominence (including elements of length, fullness and darkness), compared to 18% (26/141) for the vehicle group.

Clinical trial results showed lashes were:
25% longer (2% for vehicle)
106% fuller (12% for vehicle)
18% darker (3% for vehicle)

Do's and Don’ts of Using Latisse

Do not apply to the lower lid or in the eye and blot excess solution with a tissue.
Do only use the sterile applicators supplied with LATISSE^® to apply the product.
Do remove contact lenses prior to applying LATISSE^®. Contact lenses may be reinserted 15 minutes afterwards.
Do remember, if you stop using LATISSE^®, lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance.
Do not allow the tip of the bottle or applicator to touch fingers or any other unintended surface, as contamination by common bacteria is known to cause infections.
Do not apply to the lower lid or in the eye and blot excess solution with a tissue.

Frequently Asked Questions about Eyelash Treatments

What are the side effects of Latisse?

LATISSE® does have some side effects, the most common of which are an itching sensation in the eyes and/or eye redness. These were reported in approximately 4% of patients.

Other less common side effects typically occur on the skin close to where LATISSE® is applied, or in the eyes. These include eyelid skin darkening, eye irritation, dryness of the eyes, and redness of the eyelids. Eyelid skin darkening is a result of increased melanin in the skin, making your eyelid skin look a little darker close to where the solution is applied to the skin. This is expected to reverse after several weeks to months if you decide to stop using the product.

If you’re using LATISSE® solution and you develop a new ocular condition or reaction (e.g., trauma or infection), experience a sudden decrease in visual acuity, or need to have eye surgery, be sure to talk to your doctor immediately concerning the continued use of LATISSE®.

Is there anything I should know before applying Latisse?

Do not use LATISSE® if you are allergic to one of its ingredients. If you use/used prescription products for eye pressure problems, use LATISSE® under doctor care. May cause brown darkening of the colored part of the eye which is likely permanent. LATISSE® may cause eyelid skin darkening which may be reversible. Only apply at base of upper lashes. DO NOT APPLY to lower lid. Hair may grow outside the treatment area. If you have eye problems/surgery, consult your doctor. Common side effects include itchy and red eyes. If discontinued, lashes gradually return to previous appearance.

I really appreciate my dermatologist, Sam. Her bedside manner puts me at ease and I trust she had my best interests at heart. She helped me find the best solution for my skincare needs, and helped me understand the treatments. It was through her recommendation and advice that I finally decided to go for Botox and the Halo Laser treatment.I have one tiny complaint, unrelated to my dermatologist Sam in any way. I have been a loyal patient at Berman Skin Institute for years and have always appreciated the quality of medical care provided. However, my recent experience with their billing practices has been extremely disappointing and has caused me to question whether I can continue trusting this practice.Before my last appointment, I was charged a $150 deposit with the assurance that it would be refunded after insurance processed the claim. Ten months later, I still hadn’t received my refund and had to call the office to get it resolved. Upon investigation, I discovered that I should have only been charged $84, with the rest refunded. While the billing department apologized and claimed this was an error, I find this explanation hard to accept since the exact same issue happened to my wife.This repeated issue suggests a systemic flaw in their billing process that needs urgent attention. How many other patients are experiencing this same frustration without realizing they are owed a refund? I’m sharing this because as a long-time patient, I truly want to see Berman Skin Institute succeed, but this is unacceptable and must be corrected.Trust is the foundation of any patient-provider relationship, and these types of mistakes are damaging. I urge the management team to review and reform their billing practices to ensure refunds are processed automatically and in a timely manner. I hope to see meaningful changes soon because I want to continue being a patient here—but only if this issue is resolved.

I REALLY am grateful for Berman Skin Institute. In a world where getting an appointment with a dermatologist covered by your insurance can take months, Berman is outstanding. I see Anna Staub. I know my skin very well and will quickly point out my areas of concern. We zap them or cut them out: off to pathology. It just has never been quite as easy for me as it is here. I feel like my concerns are listened to and taken seriously, and that doesn’t happen that much these days either. Thanks!
