Reasons Why One’s Skin May Be Getting Red

Those who deal with constant sensitive skin, which gets red in the blink of an eye may be desperate to know why. The best solution for them is to seek out a dermatologist from Cameron Park, but before they do so, they may want to read up and find out what possible causes there are.

Wrong Treatment

Some may apply lots of treatments, and with no result. If this is the case, then there are two possible reasons: either the treatment is not effective for what it is supposed to do, or one is applying the wrong sort of treatment. If one has rosacea, applying a treatment for redness caused by dry skin will do absolutely nothing. There are cases when regardless of what cream one applies, it is bound to fail, because the best treatment is in the form of lasers.

Only Cream

If the redness comes from rosacea, then laser is needed for its treatment. Creams can help as long as they don’t irritate and are hydrating, but they will not replace a laser treatment done by a dermatologist from Cameron Park.

Wrong Cleanser

Washing one’s skin is crucial to it being healthy. Still, this doesn’t mean that it should be washed any which way. Foaming cleaners are to be avoided for those with sensitive, red skin, because they can irritate it further. That’s because many contain things like sodium lauryl sulfate, which work to take away oil from the skin. In this process, they often also remove water, making the skin more dry and irritated.

Too Much Exfoliation

While in some cases, exfoliation is important for a healthy skin, when one has very sensitive skin, doing so may only irritate it more. Indeed, exfoliation may work to traumatize blood vessels that are located superficially, and make them show even more. In this case, exfoliating with mild products is the way to go.

Protect the Barrier

The skin barrier is important for keeping moisture locked in. When it becomes damaged, the skin can get dry very fast, leading to a worsening of the redness problem. To prevent this, it’s a good idea to apply products that have ceramides, which are skin-repairing. In addition, if one can apply products that soothe the skin, they are much more likely to have better success in their fight against redness.
